Name of Country: Mahralien

Size of Country (relative to a real world country):About the size of Kenya, and the shape of Kenya and Tanzania kind of combined, if that makes sense.

Geography: Mountains in the west and northwest, most of the rest of the north is quite hilly, but it grows steadily flatter until the northeast is quite flat. The east is filled with rivers and swamps. The about one third of the southern border is a wide beach, and the rest is forest, several miles back north from the beach is also quite wooded. The central part of the country is the only part to really get four seasons, the south is usually warm, and the east and west tend to stay about the same all year (about a 25-30 degree change from summer to winter), and the north is cold or cool most of the year. Central Mahralien is a combination of the north, east and west, with hills, rivers, forests and a few mountains.

Culture (try to relate it to a real world country just for the ease of the people reading): Basically Ancient Roman. Whether this means academia, military, religion, or politics depends on the area you're in; it's pretty much various splotches throughout. Either way, this means everyone is loud and progressive, with public bathouses, good roads, clean water, and even a relatively primitive form of welfare for those unemployed and incapable of working.

History: Mahralien was not one of the countries founded when the gods created the world, but was carved from half of a former country. The rest of the land had been basically abandoned, but the woman who claimed the throne of Mahralien did her best to make her country stable from the start. Over the many years, it saw war, peace, and several rebellions, all completely squashed. Mahralien became a strong country, though not as strong as some. The boundaries of the country had been the same for long out of memory.

Mahralien's queen, Nadeleine Mahral, is 19 years old and about 3 or 4 months pregnant with her first child. Her husband died in combat with the Sephorim while they were aiding Aritrea. She didn't care enough about him to mourn long, and she's over him.
